Per Article 702.5 (Capacity and Rating) of the National Electric Code, where automatic transfer equipment is used, generators shall be sized to handle the total connected load or shall have capacity sufficient to supply the maximum load that will be connected by the load management system.
GenSizer(TM) is a quick and professional tool that can be used to generate residential load calculations to submit to building departments for permit applications. Additionally, GenSizer(TM) can be used to show your clients how you sized their generator, giving you a professional edge and helping you stand out from the competition.
Anyone can use GenSizer(TM), but users should have an understanding of electrical systems and of the NEC as it relates to sizing services.
GenSizer(TM) is available for all to use after creating a free account. The Free level allows you to create up to 5 load calculations per month and export to .pdf. The Pro level allows you to create up to 50 calculations per month, save and reopen your calculations for editing, export to .pdf, and upload your company logo to be included on the printed calculations. In the future, we will be adding the capability to create professional riser diagrams for a complete design package.
*Load Management: Load management is the process of controlling or "managing" loads (appliances, AC units, etc.) while under generator power so as not to overload the output rating of the generator.
